Correctly separating the waste you produce at home allows it to be transformed into new materials.
This way, we can avoid the extraction of new raw materials, creating a genuine circular economy.

Produce organic fertilizers and renewable energy
Raw and cooked food scraps, such as fruit and vegetable peels, bones and fish bones, eggshells, coffee grounds, tea bags, green waste from pruning, grass, and dry leaves.
Note: for significant amounts of green waste, contact your municipality, which may offer a separate collection for this type of waste.
Animal excrement, cigarette butts, leftover medication, waste that has its own dedicated collection points (such as those listed on this page), textiles, crockery, cutlery, coffee capsules, and personal hygiene waste.
In the biowaste container designated by your municipality
Produce new paper, notebooks, and recycled cardboard boxes
Cardboard boxes, paper bags, toilet paper/kitchen roll inner tubes, egg boxes, paper and cardboard drink cups, cardboard packaging for equipment. All this packaging should be clean and flattened.
Plastic bags, medicine packaging, cement bags, waxed or paraffin-coated cardboard packaging, soiled tissues and kitchen paper, cardboard packaging for liquid foods.
In the blue container
Produce recycled plastic and metal packaging
Plastic bags, plastic packaging, metal packaging (cans, tins, frozen food trays/tubs, take-away food containers), empty aerosols, cardboard packaging for liquid foods, plastic and metal lids, polystyrene food boxes. Whenever possible, place packaging empty and flattened.
Toothbrushes, small appliances, medicine packaging, batteries, light bulbs, plastic packaging labelled as compostable or biodegradable.
In the yellow container
Produce recycled bottles and glass jars
Glass packaging such as drink bottles, jam/preserve jars, fruit jars, perfume and cosmetics jars, and olive oil bottles. All this packaging should be empty.
Plastic bags, flat glass and windows, crockery, ceramics, crystal, mirrors, drinking glasses, light bulbs, medicine bottles, and any other packaging that is not glass.
In the green container
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Ensure the safe treatment of equipment and the recovery of valuable materials
Small appliances (toasters, irons, etc.), large appliances (washing machines, refrigerators, etc.), computer equipment, mobile phones and chargers, televisions and monitors, electrical cables, and light bulbs.
Equipment must not be dismantled. If possible, batteries should be removed separately. Do not dispose of in general waste. Do not dispose of in the yellow recycling point.
Recycling centres, specific collection points, or shops (e.g. when purchasing new equipment)
Ensure the recovery of valuable materials for reincorporation into new materials
Ordinary batteries and rechargeable batteries.
WEEE containing batteries should be taken to the appropriate WEEE collection points. Do not dispose of in general waste. Do not dispose of in the yellow recycling point.
Battery collection points (supermarkets, schools, shops…) and recycling centres
Produce biodiesel
Oil resulting from frying and food preparation.
Pour the cooking oil into an empty container and do not dispose of it in general waste. Do not pour it down household drains. Do not include lubricating oils or other liquids (water, sauces, etc.).

Encourage the correct separation of packaging
Non-reusable plastic, aluminium, and metal (cans) packaging up to 3 litres.
The packaging and label must be intact. Only packaging with the VOLTA symbol is accepted. Packaging without the VOLTA symbol, or that is damaged, should be placed in the yellow recycling point.
Automatic vending machines for returning packaging and manual collection points (such as small cafés, grocery stores, or the HORECA channel) that participate in the system.
